Over the years, MARTECH has become an event in which to find the most significant advances in marine technologies that facilitate the progress of science and industry. This year the organization was carried out by the Systems, Robotics and Vision research group (SRV) of the Universitat de les Illes Balears and the Development Center of Remote Acquisition and Information Processing Systems (SARTI) of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
The MARTECH Workshop was hosted by the University of the Balearic Islands on 6 and 7 June. This year more than fifty papers were presented by authors working in more than ten countries. Two invited talks were also given by Joaquín Tintoré, director of SOCIB, and Riccardo Costanzi, Researcher at the University of Pisa, respectively. Up to seven companies sponsored the event and had the opportunity to exhibit their products to the attendees.
The conference was attended by numerous members of the teams involved in PLOME and no less than six papers directly related to the project were presented. In addition to presenting the progress of the project, Martech was an excellent meeting point for PLOME researchers, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas and prepare for the experiments scheduled for next July at OBSEA.
