The blue economy is a relatively recent concept that we could define as the economy that recognizes the importance of the seas and oceans as drivers of the economy due to their great potential for innovation and growth.
This year, PLOME members participated in one activity organized in Catalonia called the “Blue Economy Marketplace”. It took place in Barcelona on the 20th of September 2023. In this marketplace, the main innovation challenges posed by the blue economy were presented by experts, companies and prominent entities in this field. European funding opportunities were also explained, as well as business opportunities and scientific-technological challenges in the blue economy.
IQUA robotics, had the opportunity to introduce the company to an audience composed of multiple market stakeholders of the blue economy, from government, research institutions and the private sector. The company did a short pitch presenting its main technological solutions and participated in a posterior networking event amongst the attendees to establish new relationships for future projects.
The event was hosted by our colleagues and partners of PLOME from Institut de Ciències del Mar – CSIC and organized by ACCIÓ and Barcelona Activa with the collaboration of BlueNetCat in the framework of the #EMD in my country. EMD In My Country is a key part of the wave of ocean awareness and activism that has been rising steadily in recent years: the events under its brand have become more and more popular, attracting more thousands of participants every year.
